The Challenge:
Making steel is the grandfather of human industry. Steel is at the core of advances in material science and manufacturing. There are thousands of variations designed to enhance the properties of steel. Subtle process control is required in formulating, casting and cooling steel. A major automotive steel processing plant asked us to work with them on a cooling station to improved the manufacturing process.
The APS Solution:
We built a 12-foot delivery pipe with a plugged end and multiple outlet nozzles to direct a chemical quench directly onto the surface of the steel sheet traveling at high speed in the quench spray.
The Result:
More steel in less time with better process control and quality. You gotta love it when a plan comes together.
